Day 3 of Babymoon

RECAP OF DAY 2:  Yesterday proved to be a full day!  It started with my appointment with the diabetic nurse that turned into a second appointment with the dietitian (that was previously scheduled for today).  The dietitian had a cancellation so I was able to do the appointments back to back.  I didn't mind in the least because neither appointment ran for the entire hour AND I don't have to make a trip out there today.  God not only blessed by way of the schedule, but also because I didn't have to pay any co-pays yesterday!  That was nearly an $80 savings!

With the appointments; I can't say that I learned too many new things, but I did learn some.  We reviewed what I was already doing and they both agreed that there wasn't much for me to change.  It's just a matter of checking my levels daily to make sure things stay under control clear through delivery.
I was flattered when both of the nurses told me that they had never seen anyone come in so well prepared!      The dietitian even requested to keep my food diary notes!  Well, you know I don't have any trouble writing. LOL    The nurse also gave me some information that I could pass on to my parents- I believe we may have a genetic predisposition through my father's side of the family, which makes us all at risk.  Some of my aunts have already been diagnosed and I believe there are others that have Type 2, but are simply undiagnosed.
One thing that I will have to do in addition to taking my sugar levels is using Ketostix  (by urinalysis) to measure the Keotin in my system.  That's a way for me to tell if the baby is getting enough nutrients and to see how my blood sugars stayed during the night.  I was already familiar with those, so it isn't any big deal.  I took the first one this morning and it was normal!  So far, so good.   I know the Lord has been with me through all of this, too, which I find a great comfort and assurance in.

After the appointments, we picked up some more items needed for Celeste's Honor Crowning (mainly some cake boards and a candy star form along with some candy sticks).  We then needed to deliver some music to a friend of ours for Sunday morning service.  It was around lunchtime, so we went out to lunch with them.  Their 1 yr. wedding anniversary is coming up and we decided to eat at the restaurant we all went to for the first time when they met.  That was fun!

Later in the afternoon, we went to the zoo.  With just the little boys, we had a light agenda planned.  We wanted to ride the carousel and the train!  Our first stop was the Discovery Barn where there are a lot of smaller animals to see, including this year's feature exhibit: Koalas!

Here you see the little boys and Daddy by the carousel.  After riding it, Zeke and Levi wanted a snow cone.  They both got the blue raspberry kind.  Dad had a cherry one.  Luckily, I had packed an apple and some whole wheat crackers.   I tried to take some pictures ON the carousel, but unfortunately my camera was frozen over at the moment due to being in my sun bag along with 3 water bottles full of ice water!  Zeke insisted on riding the silver- back ape and Levi rode the wolf.

After eating the snow cones, we walked around for a little while, looked at the sea lions, and fed the goats and deer.  We ended up watching a show that had all kinds of live animals in it:  a tortoise, a boa constrictor, a monitor lizard, a millipede, hissing cockroaches, a trained dog, an owl who flew around, some other birds, a trained rat, and this beautiful blue macaw that you see above.
Zeke and Levi got to go up and feed him after the show!

After that, it was off to the train and then to the gift shop.  We were looking for a stuffed Koala for one of Pete's co-workers grandkids.  We were able to pick one up for her (for half the cost of what she was thinking she'd have to spend) and delivered it to her on the way home.  She was blessed and we were so happy to help!

The remainder of the day, we made several stops.  We picked up candy for molds for Celeste's crowning, picked up some ball glove conditioner for Pete, ran some cleaner out to our friend who is helping with the station wagon, stopped at the pet store for some fish tank conditioner, and took a package to the post office.

By the time we got home, I was so ready to BE home!  I made dinner (crab cakes) and worked out for half an hour and then promptly hit the hay!

DAY 3:  We don't plan on doing too much today.  I think it will be a relaxing day at home; swimming and playing.  I may work on making the candy (with the supplies from yesterday) and then freeze them.  The ceremony is only about 6 weeks away, so that would be fine to do.

Day 4 will be fun as we have more adventures planned with the little boys.  I have to admit that having just the 2 of them around is so easy!  We're all having a Babymoon blast!

Blessings and we'll see you later.
