Finally Welcoming Fall

Though the official start of fall was actually Sunday, today we are finally welcoming more fall like weather!  Sure, there were a few days that felt like fall several weeks ago, but now it seems more, well, credible.  After a rainy night on Sunday into Monday morning, it seems like the air is a bit cleaner; less congested with allergens.  I think all of us are feeling a bit more spry and energetic!
This morning, I sipped my cup of coffee out on the screened in porch to a mere sixty degrees.  It was refreshingly crisp and invigorating!    I just love this time of year (well, OK, I love all the seasons except I do get tired of the snowy weather and wish for the end of winter quicker than the other seasons).

So, speaking of the cold front that moved in via the rain showers (and brought us all this heavenly weather), I have to tell you about my ridiculous dog, Winston.   Do any of you out there have crazy pets?    Let me tell you what happened in the latest Winston adventure- hey, I guess it's a "How My Fall Started" story.
Early Monday morning as the rain showers trickled down, there was a point where the occasional clap of thunder would startle me awake.   Winston hates thunder and will make his way to the basement to sleep with one of the boys... usually.  On this particular night though, he must have been sacked out on the bottom bunk bed in the little boy's room.  I heard a big clap of thunder and then like a shot of lightning, my bathroom door burst open.  I keep the light on in my bathroom and the door cracked since the baby is in my room.  So, when the door burst open the room was all lit up... not a pleasant experience.   At that point I wasn't sure what had happened, but by that time I had to go to the bathroom.  I didn't see Winston, so I figured he may have thought I was in the bathroom (since the light was on), saw that I wasn't, and headed to the basement.   I went over by the toilet and that's when something furry touching my foot.   Good thing I was already by the toilet because I think I would have wet myself... it scared me!    There was my crazy dog completely curled around the bottom of the toilet... his head behind it altogether!  EWW!  Of course, I haven't been cleaning around that area for several weeks since I had the baby and believe me... that's the last place you want anything to end up- especially kids or your pets.
Incidentally, I dropped a pen back there last week and I really wanted to put on the bio-hazard suit and long rubber gloves to retrieve it!

I couldn't coax him out from behind the potty, so that's where he stayed the remainder of the night.  ICK, ICK, Icky!

Of course, he got a good. long bath yesterday.

Enjoy the beginning of fall!  See you later, friends!
