He Knows My Name

"but if anyone loves God, he is known by Him."
2 Corinthians 8:3

Isn't it one of the biggest desires of our heart... to be a person of meaning; one who makes a difference in the world?  We want to leave our mark, we want people to remember us and have validation that we "weren't just here taking up space"!  Our desire is to do something with our lives to bring Him glory and honor; furthering the Kingdom of God.

The transparency of children brings this point into focus.  They are proud of their name and they leave it on everything they can!  Levi leaves his mark whenever a possibility arises.  The picture above shows him writing his name in the mirror after his steamy shower!   Even when we were visiting my sister a few weeks ago, he scrolled his name in chalk on the stoop outside their house!  For them, it's a fond reminder of the wonderful visit we had and brings a smile to their faces.  It's a marker in time.

It's good if people know our name, but it's best to be KNOWN BY GOD!

When God knows us, He writes our name on the palm of His hand. He never forgets us.  He never forgets anything about us.  He knows us and every time He sees our name it brings a smile to His face.

We are simply "visitors" on this earth; leaving our mark for a short time and then we're gone...just like Levi's name written on the foggy mirror.  When we begin to realize that we only have a small window of opportunity through the lives we were given, it puts it all in perspective that the fame of man is fleeting, but to be praised and known by God is above all...and it's eternal!

In my final thoughts,  let's touch on our walk here on the earth.  Either consciously or unconsciously we make our mark on this planet every day.  We declare,  "I walked this way."   Like the story of Hansel and Gretel, we leave our crumbs along life's path and whether we like it or not,  people will follow the crumbs.   Every one's life leaves a crumb trail... some to the narrow path, some to the broad path.  Where are you leaving YOUR crumbs?

May the Lord spark a flame in your heart today with the knowledge:  HE KNOWS YOUR NAME!
