Expectant Prayers ®

He's Got the Whole World in His Hands

As the Family Research Council has quoted.. ."24 Hours - A World of Difference"!   From the immediate threat to the unborn and family values, proposed nationalization of the US banks (with a 3-4 Trillion dollar bail out where the government would then control the money), or to the order to close GITMO, we are in for quite a ride!     The nationalization of the banks (for one) is not something that simply effects the United States.  Fox News has reported that Asia, Europe, and the UK are in the same boat.  Are we headed this quickly to a one world monetary system?  One could imagine.

Never in history has the affairs of the world seemed to echo what we were taught as children - what to look for before the Lord's return.  It's unfolding right before our eyes.

The world seems be on one man's shoulders; but not those of Jesus Christ.  The Word declares "And the government shall be upon His shoulders!"  How quickly do we substitute our desire for the Almighty with a golden calf!  And like that golden calf, it will not be long before we are forced to drink down the cocktail of what we've created.

I was somewhat intrigued and shocked when I heard the priest who made the opening comments at yesterday's Prayer service state (and I wonder if anyone else caught this) that we were offering up our prayers TO the new President and other leaders instead of saying we offer up our prayers FOR them.   Slip of the tongue?   Even the song that was so beautifully performed by the African American Kids Choir, "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" took on a new meaning as they were singing it.    Who exactly is the HE they were singing of?

We all dream of a time when people of every tribe, every tongue, and every nation gather around the throne of God Almighty to praise and glorify His name, but I have to say that the display yesterday during the National Prayer Service seemed to be devoid of His presence and anointing (maybe not every moment, but overall).  The Word does say that where two or three are gathered in His name, He will be in the midst of them... so He was there in my opinion, but not on the center stage of hearts and minds.

Bringing people together just for the sake of "coming together in unity" is worthless unless you are unified in Christ; not unified in religion, patriotism, politics, etc.  But, this is where we are headed to be politically correct - even in how we worship.

One thing is for certain, GOD still has the whole world in His hands.  He's still the God He was yesterday.  He still has a plan for our lives.  He's still coming back and will one day rule the nations - finally bringing true peace.  Nothing in that respect has changed because our God does not change.  It's important that we do not lose sight of that today in the midst of the "change" around us.  We must hold unswervingly to the hope that we profess, and that hope is in the Lord.

Today, the world may be singing the praises of one man, but every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.  The earth will sing HIS praises.

I needed to hear this song today.  Maybe you do too!

To end today, I am including these thoughts by Ronald Reagan to use as our prayer:

To preserve our blessed land we must look to God... It is time to realize that we need God more than He needs us... We also have His promise that we could take to heart with regard to our country, that "If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Let us, young and old, join together, as did the First Continental Congress, in the first step, in humble heartfelt prayer. Let us do so for the love of God and His great goodness, in search of His guidance and the grace of repentance, in seeking His blessings, His peace, and the resting of His kind and holy hands on ourselves, our nation, our friends in the defense of freedom, and all mankind, now and always.

The time has come to turn to God and reassert our trust in Him for the healing of America... Our country is in need of and ready for a spiritual renewal. Today, we utter no prayer more fervently than the ancient prayer for peace on Earth.

If I had a prayer for you today, among those that have all been uttered, it is that one we're so familiar with: "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace...." And God bless you all.
