THE TOOTH FAIRY VISITS AGAIN!

Above:  Tooth Fairy Pillow (complete with a little pocket for the tooth) we inherited from Grandma Weiss (who also made it) and a silly book from our personal library, "Lizzie and the Tooth Fairy".  I bought that book at the Scholastic book sale day when I was in elementary school!

The tooth fairy has visited us again here in the Big Weiss Family.  Zeke had his second round of dental work done earlier this week (Monday).  This appointment was more hair raising than the first.  He had a second tooth that had to be extracted and it didn't come out nearly as well as the one on the other side.  They also had to put a crown on one of his molars due to having cavities on 3 surfaces- the fillings wouldn't hold, so they had to crown it.  He'll have to go back to have appliances (spacers) put in that will hold the space where the teeth were extracted until his adult teeth come in (in a few years).   Twice during his visit, he cried out in pain, which sprang this protective Mommy right out of her seat.   I could tell that the dentist felt bad about it, too.  She shot him up with some more "cool water" as they call it.

Zeke's sure teaching us a different meaning to "put your money where your mouth is"!
Here he is with his "tooth fairy" dollar.  Look close into his mouth and you'll see his crown.

I have now scheduled appointments for two more of the kids for next week (Moses and Levi).  I can only hold my breath in anticipation of what may be found.    Hopefully nothing major.  We'll see.

AND... the same day Zeke had his tooth out, one of Levi's came out on its own.  Kids are really proud when they lose teeth- and its quite a mile-marker for them.

Levi's goofy grin and his "tooth fairy" dollar.

Both Levi and Zeke got a dollar from the "tooth fairy"  (AKA me).   They have always known it's me because we don't believe in lying to the children on any level.  Children have a hard enough time defining reality and if you tell them there is a Santa or a tooth fairy then what will they believe about Jesus when they become more aware?  Will they ask, "Was he a fairy tale, too?"    Just a thought!

All of this talk about Zeke's crown reminds me about other "crowns", the kind the Lord gives!

"what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
Yet you made them only a little lower than God
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority—"  Psalm 8:4-6 (NLT)

"And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing." 2  Timothy 4:8 (NLT)

"I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown."  Revelation 3:11

IMPORTANT FOR PARENTS; IMMUNIZATIONS POSSIBLY LINKED TO AUTISM

Autism in on the rise in this country and is starting to gain more and more attention as cases paramount.  Some would argue that it is becoming a national crisis!  As a mother of six, I find it unacceptable that the statistics have risen to now reflect 1 out of 150 children will develop autism in this country.  Even more staggering to me is that the percentage rises in MALE children, affecting 1 out of every 94 boy babies!   Yeah... a little scary to me when I have five boys and several nephews!

Did any of you catch the Larry King interview with the little 9 year old girl from Georgia last night who developed Autism following a series of vaccinations?  Recently, the US Department of Health and Human Services concluded that there was a link to her autism and the vaccines and was entitled to compensation from a federal vaccine injury fund (I didn't even know that existed).  More about this story can be found at:

http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/health/stories/2008/03/06/autism_0306.html#

Thanks to Patty for letting me know the story was going to air.  Similar stories have been aired on other talk shows, but sadly they probably only reflect many more children who haven't gained the national spotlight!   If you are like me, most of what we hear just leaves more questions in your mind than answers.   Most pediatricians are very good about informing information to parents about any vaccines your child will be given.    If you do have questions, please PLEASE discuss them with your doctor!   I have!    Please join in prayer on this subject as well that God will grant wisdom to researchers and scientists; that a cause can be determined and that safe measures for vaccines can be implemented!

HOME EDUCATION LAW IN CALIFORNIA YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT

If you are a home schooling family, please read the following article by Dr. Dobson concerning recently passed legislation in California.  It's important information that all of us need to be made aware of!
Thanks to friend, Becky, for forwarding it to me!
