Hitting the Ground Running

From the time my feet hit the floor this morning, I felt like I was in a marathon race to complete the tasks ahead on this beautiful Wednesday.  Plus, with it being a Wednesday, I have a strict time guide I have to follow in order to be able to get everything done before church tonight.  That's what it's like when you have to go back to "work" after Christmas break...quite an adjustment.

Sometimes I look at the mountain of work ahead and wonder to myself, is it all worth it?  Am I making a difference?  Am I doing a good job with the kids, as a wife, as a teacher, as an author, as a child of God or in the other "hats" I seem to wear daily?

I realized this morning, as the Lord brings me back to the real truth about  life-  that it isn't about what we accomplish on our own; in our own strength or in our own abilities... it's what we accomplish WITH  Him.   And boy, DO we need Him!!!   The Word tells us in Romans that we can do all things when we are in Christ.   It's also not allowing our flaws, our failures, our inabilities, or times when we've disappointed or been disappointed to define our future for us.   We must keep running the race!

We're not called to be "Superwoman" or "Superman", but we are called to be faithful.  God is with us in all and through all.   In our human eyes, we may not see much, but to God, He may look at us and see a David, a Samuel, a Paul, a Peter, a Moses, an Elijah, a Deborah, a Hannah, an Esther, or an Abraham!  Little is much when God is in it!

And for those of you out there with "full plates", remember that an elephant is eaten one bite at a time!

I am encouraged by the Lord today to press on and "run the race set before me" with strength, diligence, skill, and endurance.  Isn't that a great way to approach life?  No matter what your tasks are today or for the new year (or whether they are big or small), let me encourage you to always do your best.  Wasn't it Benjamin Franklin who said, "Anything worth doing is worth doing well"?    Personally, I feel like I've had a time of refreshing and it's time to get moving again.

Let's all run toward the goal the Lord has personally set before all of us.  Keep Him in focus and run with all of our might that we might accomplish great things for him in 2008.

Hebrews 6:10-12 (New American Standard Bible)

10 For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having  ministered and in still ministering to the saints.

11And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end,

12so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
