Expectant Prayers ®

House Under Construction

Here at the Big Weiss House, we are feeling like a house under construction!  There are a lot of little projects going on and all seem to demand our attention.  New ministry projects, additions/renovations to our house like an additional bathroom and enclosing the deck for our school room, etc.     So where do we start and how do we find the time to get all these projects done?

You've got to learn to build your house on the Lord!  My favorite verse for my family is the one posted on my website and I find it to be totally true:   "Unless the Lord builds the house, its workers labor in vain."  Psalm 127:1

So what does that mean exactly?

I think it means that we need to be anxious about nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving make our requests known to God.  (Philippians 4:6-7) We've got to seek the Lord's direction and will before we even begin to work!    He knows what we need to get done and in what order we need to do it!  Pray, pray, pray!  And did I mention... pray???

Make the Lord the foundation of whatever you do, and you'll be building wisely.  Even Jesus said in
Matthew 7:24 that following the ways of the Lord is like a wise man who builds his house on the rock! One who does not build on the Lord is like the foolish man building on sand.

Allow the Lord to direct the path of your "plans".  "A man's heart devises his way: but the LORD shall direct his steps!  (Proverbs 16:9)

Seek Him through prayer and frequently consult your blueprint (the Word of God).

Sometimes construction can be daunting.  You don't know where to even find the resources you need or how to go about executing the building. There's good news!  When you commit your ways to the Lord, your thoughts will be established.  (Proverbs 16:3)  He is the great contractor when it comes to your life plans, so allow Him to oversee ALL the work.  What He has called you to do, He will accomplish.  He'll give you what you need to fulfill the task, all you have to do is ask for the supply. What He has declared for your life... no one can steal away or ruin!  The Lord has great plans for you... to prosper you; to bring you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

Don't forget that sometimes construction first needs demolition to take place before He can build.  Whether it's the ruins of a tainted past, or simply debris that has fallen in the path of your life, it must be removed.  Allow the Holy Spirit to remove all the junk in order for God's construction to progress.

So what is God building in your life today?  Can you say with me that your spiritual house is a house under construction?    In the somewhat modified words of Bob the Builder...  "Can He fix it?  Yes, He can!  Can He build it?  Yes, He can!"

Have a wonderful day in the Lord, friends!  See you tomorrow.
