Expectant Prayers ®

Is This Really the World We Live In???

In the evenings, when I work on my Gazelle, I often have time to watch some news and pray.  Those two things go hand in hand because you can hardly watch the news (local or global) without finding something to pray about.  This week... the miners, the hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, the bridge collapse, the stock market... bring us to our knees before God.   I have often said that when things begin to happen physically around us (natural disasters or the like) we really need to consider what God may be trying to speak to us spiritually.    And, oftentimes, we need a boost out of our complacency/sleepiness and awaken our spirits back to fervency in Him.

Some of the things I saw this particular evening I mentioned before were totally bizarre to my mind.  I get to feeling old, or out of date...definitely out of touch with a lot of things in our present day.   I shake my head in disbelief and ask myself, "Is this really the world we are living in?"

One in particular stuck out to me that had to do with a ballistic bookbag for students.  I can appreciate the invention and the necessity, yet the question nags at me.
"Has it really come to this where we have to arm our children with protection in order to feel that they are safe in our public schools?"

The following information comes from mychildspack.com :

Now you can provide on the spot protection against guns and knife violence!

Independently tested to the standards set by the National Institute for Justice
to provide Level II ballistic protection, as found in most police body armor, at almost 1/10 the weight.

Since 1999 over 328 incidents have occurred, leaving 229 dead and 422 injured in school violence alone. That is an average of about 1 per week since the Columbine Tragedy. In almost 97% of these documented incidents, MJ Safety Solutions backpack could have provided the ballistic protection that could have saved lives.

This backpack can provide life saving defense for anyone: school children, educators, journalists and tourists to name a few. This is a full size, ultra lightweight backpack packed with features to make it practical for everyone.

***** These bags are available on the website for around $175 each.********

It just makes me sit back and take a harder look at the world and the spiritual happenings that most people- even Christians- are ignoring.

Is this really the world we WANT to live in?

Whatever happened to the time (at least in this country) when kids respected authority,   school teachers, community leaders, and parents were honored,    guns and knives were for hunting and whittling sticks with,   you could leave your doors unlocked, you could park your car in your driveway without fear of vandalism or robbery,   parents actually "parented" their children,    walking in your neighborhood  was safe,   letting your kids ride their bikes down to the grocery store was common and you didn't need to fear that someone would harm them........ I could go on and on!      What can we do about it??? Where is the peace that we all desire and seek?  Are the days of security gone, not only globally, but in our own backyards as well?   At this rate, what will our world look like in 10 years?

I don't have too many answers, even for my own questions.  I do know that as Christians living in a modern sin infested world that we need to keep ourselves pure before the Lord and diligently seek His wisdom and direction daily.   Prophetically, we can see the writing on the wall that the stage is being set for the anti-Christ to take charge and promise peace to the chaos that seems to consume us globally.   Most Biblical scholars would venture to say that he is probably already alive today and simply waiting for the opportune time.    But, his peace will not be the true peace that mankind longs for.

In the meantime, I feel an urgency to compel people to get right with God... prepare yourself just as God sees you; as the bride (as Scripture says).   He is wanting to return  to claim a church without spot or wrinkle... for one who is looking for Him.    Just this morning, I watched a news story on CNN about "Trashing Wedding Gowns", a seemingly popular trend currently among new brides.     They go tear up their gowns, roll around in the mud... anything they can do to trash the gown.     Again, that says a lot to me about our society and the reverence we have toward marriage as well as our spiritual condition.   Would we like to stand before the Lord in purity or in filth?

I will end today with a verse that is on my heart.  I don't want to sound like doom and gloom all the time, but friends... I feel like we do not take the signs of the times seriously enough in the day we are living in.  For Christians, this should be one of the most exciting times for us, yet we are being corrupted in our actions, our thoughts, our emotions, and our spirits.   My prayer for all of us today is to consider what is going on in the world around us and truly examine ourselves against the Bible;  rendering our hearts and lives to the mind and will of Christ.

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you until myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.  And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know...
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:  not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."        John 14:1-4, 26-27
