Expectant Prayers ®

Jennifer Jo Weiss

It's Beginning to LOOK a lot Like Christmas!

As most of you know, the ice has hit our part of the country with more expected tonight and tomorrow.  Our neighbors to the south have been hit hard and we are already under a winter weather advisory for tomorrow.  I am praying that our electricity won't go off.  Several years ago, we had a huge ice storm here in Kansas City and our house was without power for ten days!  I don't want to relive that saga.

That being said, there is still an appreciation for the beauty of the winter weather.   The world seems so clean covered in a blanket of white and the ice just glistens.    Plus, the kids love to play in the snow.  They've already built three snow forts in the front yard for their snowball fights.  They hope that they will make it through the freezing rain so they can get out there and wage war again.

Saturday was a slippery road day, but half of the family got down to the new Sprint Center to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.  For the older kids, it was their first professional orchestra concert.  I don't know too many orchestras though that have laser lights, smoke, and a cube that lifts into the air that some of the soloists "flew" on.   After hearing their Christmas music on the radio, it was fun for the kids to see them in person.  Just one more event to welcome in the season!

Yesterday, many of our area churches (including ours) closed due to the weather.  We had a day here at home with nothing we had to do, except for Pete who was on duty last night.

There was one exciting event last night when Pete came home for dinner... someone stuck an early Christmas gift in our front yard!  We found it there as Pete was leaving.   One question... is it a deer or a cow?  Probably a reindeer???

Believe me, it looks much better in the dark!  I took this when I was putting out the trash this morning.   Maybe he should have gone to the pile, too!   No.  We'll save him for something special.   It's pretty CLEAR who is probably behind this little prank.  Thank you very much Brett and/or Morty!
