It's Hard to Put Glue Back Into the Bottle

We use quite a bit of glue in this house for school and leisure projects.  My favorite kind of glue for scrap booking or collage projects is called: Elmer's Rubber Cement.  It's the most amazing glue.  No wrinkles!  It was great back in the day when you had to literally cut clip art to make church bulletins and calendars.  I spent what felt like YEARS of my life cutting and pasting for church projects.  Yeah, some of you out there are gasping with disbelief that there actually was a time when we had to do that!  Now it can all be done on the computer... but several years ago that was not true!

Once in awhile when we're using glue here at home, the bottle will tip over and the glue runs out all over.  Usually it ends up on newspaper or some other kind of paper that we're doing our projects on.  Have you ever noticed that it's pretty impossible to get that glue back in the bottle once it's out?
Not only is it hard to get back in, but it's hard to clean up.  Sticky and messy; it seems to get on everything you didn't intend it to get on like hands, clothes,  and even hair (with little kids you know what I mean).

Normally glue is used to bond things together that normally wouldn't bond.  The sticking property of glue can be a good or bad thing.

If you've ever used Krazy Glue and got your fingers stuck together...well, you know how disconcerting it can be.  A little panic can set in and for a moment you don't know what to do.  Your mind searches for answers to the question,'Can anything be done to fix it????"
I have learned (by necessity) that Krazy Glue does make a product to dissolve (undo) Krazy Glue, but your fingers feel really weird for a very, very, very long time!

That glue example is a lot like life.  Once things spill out- be it unkind words, actions/behaviors, decisions at work or church, even legislation... it's hard to "undo" what you've done.  Things get sticky.  You can quickly adhere to things you really didn't want to.

It's hard to put glue back in the bottle once it's out.

I look around at headlines just for this morning... I realized that in a lot of ways, we're "spilling the glue".  Our pursuit of freedom (in all areas of life- without any limits) is leaving our country in one sticky mess.  Once we enact such rights, then we're stuck with them.    I'm sure you can think of several specific headlines.  Here's some that got my mind going....

- Schools advocate free relationships and educate children of choices...now abstinence is being promoted again.  This morning it was reported on the news that 48% of American teenagers are "active".  We should never have let the glue out of the bottle.

- We were free to waste and pollute the world in all kinds of ways...  now everyone wants you to "GO GREEN".   Yeah, the glue is everywhere isn't' it?

-Law decided that a mother has a choice whether her baby will live or die.  There are 70-80 thousand babies killed in America each year... now we're supposed to protect animal rights - but don't worry about human rights?    We're getting stuck to things we don't really want to be stuck with!   The same could be said for the defining of "family" in this country!

-Vaccines are trying to be made more "green" because of the rise of autism in the nation - but as many find out it's hard to undo the glue!

From foreign to domestic policies, our stance in the world superpowers, our nation in crisis... there's a rising puddle of glue and we're swimming in it.  My feeling is that new administration in the White House is not going to help matters, but will only supply us with more glue!!!!!!!

They're rubber and we're glue.  Everything they say bounces off of them and sticks to you!

So, I go back to my analogy with the Krazy Glue... are we feeling a bit of panic... are we looking around and asking the question, "Can anything be done to fix it???"     Perhaps in this stage of the prophetic timetable... maybe not.

You CAN:
Pray.
Pray about everything and pray continually.
Seek the Lord while He may be found.
Walk in righteousness and by the Spirit of the living God.
Humble yourself before Him and repent; repent for our nation.
Look toward Him and not circumstances.
Trust Him.
Keep voicing your beliefs and opinions even if you feel like they fall on deaf ears.
Find your strength, confidence, and hope in HIM.

My prayer today is that God will continue to guide and direct His people in all circumstances of our lives; that He will divinely keep us from evil and protect our children.  I pray that He will give us knowledge and wisdom, that we will not make choices that we will regret and that we will walk in a
manner pleasing to Him.  That God would supernaturally remove things "stuck" to us that should not be in our personal lives and would restore healing to areas that need it.  May we adhere to God, His word, and will.  Amen!
