Just Be Still - Psalm 46:10

There have been a few times in my marriage when my husband will see that I am too busy or perhaps agitated by circumstances or situations; even times when I get to arguing with him over something and he'll firmly say, "Be still."  As I'm writing this, it makes me giggle a little because you can only imagine how a police officer might like to use his commanding voice to quiet someone...and that's not what I mean at all.  He's not bellowing at me to be some sort of subservient little woman; it's like he's seen that I've had enough and realizes that I need a reality check.    Sometimes it makes me mad when he says it...because I know he's right.  Sometimes we need to just stop, take a step back, and realize God is still God in ALL situations.  We need to take our hands off; no need for further discussion, and let God be God.

There are just some days where you wake up and you just know that all God wants you to do for the day is to be still before Him.  In this world of hectic living, it can be hard to quiet ourselves, settle our minds, simplify our schedules, or even have a minute to simply listen to the voice of the Lord.  So, my message today is simply... just be still.   At least that's what I felt today, and I know there are others of you out there who need to hear this word, too.

Take a look at several versions of the verse today.  It's interesting how they all say something a little different!

"Attention, all! See the marvels of God!
He plants flowers and trees all over the earth,
Bans war from pole to pole,
breaks all the weapons across his knee.
"Step out of the traffic! Take a long,
loving look at me, your High God,
above politics, above everything."   Psalm 46:10 (The Message)

"Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."   Psalm 46:10 (NASB)

“Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalm 46:10 (NLT)

"Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!"  Psalm 46:10 (Amplified Bible)

"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."   Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen,
I will be exalted in the earth. "  Psalm 46:10 (KJV)

"Our God says, "Calm down,  and learn that I am God!   All nations on earth will honor me."
Psalm 46:10 (Contemporary English Version)

That's a great message for today.

Be blessed and quiet yourself before Him!
