Let the Countdown to Christmas Begin!

Gingerbread Houses are a tradition in this family.  We make our small ones with graham crackers!  We occasionally make large ones with real gingerbread.  YUM!

Only 35 days 'till Christmas!

Whew!  What a busy weekend.  Christmas play practices, running here, running there... I'm exhausted.

I am glad that we have this entire week off for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Today will be spent doing some housework and baking.  I just love baking.  I am taking some pies and such to our Thanksgiving dinner.  That will be fun.   With 3 women working in the kitchen that day, I'm sure we'll have the feast ready in a snap!

Also today, I plan on wrapping Christmas gifts...that is if I have enough time to.  Every year, I make it a goal to get all of the shopping for our kids done before Thanksgiving.  HA!  It rarely works out that way, but this year it almost has (minus 2 hard to find items that will more than likely be found online!)  Of course, there will be more shopping to do for the Grandmas, but it certainly helps when the bulk of our shopping is completed.

Every year, we also make it a goal to put together boxes for Samaritan's Purse.  Each of my kids pick items that are for a child their age group and same gender.  This year some friends of ours combined birthday parties and asked in lieu of gifts that everyone simply bring items for shoe boxes for Samaritan's Purse.  That was a lot of fun and probably filled more than one box per child.  So, that's done as well.

It's true that most of us have more than enough already and our kids don't really need more toys.  Perhaps that describes your family.  Why not consider doing something for others?  Donate to your local Salvation Army or take some coats or clothes to a local shelter.  Participate in an Adopt-a-Family program at work or Angel Tree at church.    If you are a family in need, we are standing with you in prayer that God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory.

And let's all remember that the only gift we truly need is free: the gift of salvation.

Blessings to you today friends!

Please remember to pray for those facing physical illness.  Specifically, we had a request this morning to pray for a local 2 yr. old boy who was diagnosed with leukemia this past weekend.  Pray for his family and for God's will to be done concerning his healing.   Pray that the family will focus on God and be surrounded by encouragers!

We are also remembering Melvin today  (cancer- bone marrow) and his wife, Charlotte.

Finally, remember the widows, widowers, and orphans.  Holidays are especially hard for them.

Thanks for your prayers!
