Raising Up Godly Men

Titus, Joey, Joe, and Josh Earn the Top Discovery Rangers Award- Gold Eagle

Last night, I had the privilege of attending a Royal Rangers promotions/honors service for the boys at our church.  I am guessing that there were about 35 honorees!  I am so impressed with all the boys and their accomplishments.  If this group is any indication of what the men of tomorrow will be like, then the future is bright!  This program teaches many different things (life skills, morals, manners, citizenship, outdoor/camping training, etc.)  What I like best about the program is the Christian standards, ideals, and characteristics that create the foundation.  My boys are learning so much!

The Bible instructs us to raise up children in the way that they should go and when they are old, they will not depart from the teaching.  This doesn't mean that we have an iron clad guarantee that our children will not choose a different path for their lives, but the solid foundation will always be there.

With a houseful of boys, I am a mother who is constantly concerned about nurturing my sons into godly men.  In my opinion, it all starts at home with their father.  When I married Pete, I didn't know what kind of Dad he would be, but I knew his character and convictions.  I had prayed for a husband that would be strong- not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well; one who could lead children.  Boy, did God deliver!  From the day our first child was born, he seemed to be a natural at parenting.   He's a man's man and he has a great impact on our sons.  BTW- my husband was also in Royal Rangers as a kid at the very same church we attend!

I can't stress enough that Fathers are very vital to the raising of children (or at the very least strong male role models).  The Bible tells us that the older men are to instruct the younger.  We need to remember this precept and follow it diligently.

Thanks to all the fathers and other godly men out there who are influencing the church of tomorrow!!  Especially to my own... Pete, thank-you!
