Spring Break Begins!!!

"The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the POWER of God!"  1 Corinthians 1:18

"But you will receive POWER when the Holy Spirit comes on you..."  Acts 1:8a

To those who look at the cross, some may only see defeat; a place where Jesus was crucified.  Yet to the Christian, we see the basis of our Christian faith; a place of victory.  It's a place where Jesus died for our sins to bring us freedom.  The cross represents POWER for those who love and follow Him.  Power to be forgiven and live an eternal life  (Romans 1:16), the power to overcome all fear (Psalm 27:1), the power to live a godly life (2 Peter 1:3),  the power to take his message of love to ends of the earth {Acts 1:8} , and the power to win victory over the devil's temptations {1 Corinthians 1:18}.

Hope you had a great Easter Sunday!  We sure did.  It all started with running Kids Church yesterday.  Titus helped out and had a lot of fun doing it.   Things progressed quickly and it seemed like we got a lot finished; crafts, a quick lesson about the Easter Egg representing the empty tomb, a flash card recap of "The Life of Jesus" and "Why We Need a Savior", a Scripture Egg Hunt (to go along with the lesson), a kid-sized wooden cross, nail, and crown of thorns for the kids to feel and look at, a demonstration how God bridges the gap between man and Himself with the cross,  a short sermon on "The Power of the Cross, prizes, gift sacks, a short movie viewing, and then prayer.  WHEW!    But, if you know kids, they like fast-paced everything.     The morning seemed to fly by and then we were off to Grandma and Grandpa Weiss' for Easter lunch.   After we ate, the kids hunted for eggs in the front and back yard.  It was cold yesterday, so I didn't get too many pictures outside, but here is a group shot of the kids...

And you can tell by the photo, our family color theme this year was orange.

Then late last night, we went back over to sing/play some old hymns.  Yes, I even got out my trombone!  It was a fun night- and ended way too late!   It was quite the Resurrection Sunday!

Our Spring Break officially begins today and we're looking forward to it.  It seems like there are plenty of things on the schedule this week and it's sure to be gone before we know it.  Well, I'm going to get off here so I can begin enjoying my break.  Have a blessed day and we'll visit more later!
