Yesterday, President Bush visited a new hospital located about 10 minutes away from our house. This new hospital located in Lee's Summit, Missouri is one of only a few in the nation that have gone totally digital. Here in Kansas City, I have noticed an increase in the use of Digichart and other digital forms of record keeping. This expedites the information (especially medical history) to our care providers and related hospitals when needed. The President took a tour of the hospital- which I am sure is very interesting. My OB/GYN group moved their offices to the new hospital over a year ago. Unfortunately, that hospital is not one covered by my insurance, so I don't think I'll get to see it any time soon...not that I am wishing to GO to the hospital or anything. My interest in advocacy for the health care systems, hospitals, and workers in our nation peeks my curiosity in any new local medical facility and what they have to offer. Also, my association with groups (such as Health Care Christian Fellowship) mobilize and pray in the chapels and for the various departments of most hospitals in the KC metro area, so it's always nice to know where the new buildings are! St. Luke's East is to be commended for their state of the art advancements in health care!
If you are a Christian doctor, nurse, or health care worker, why not consider a group such as HCF or whatever is offered locally? There are some wonderful groups out there for support, prayer, or encouragement. Even if you are simply a prayer warrior and have a heart for health care (like me) you can contact a local group to see how you can become involved.
On a silly note, when we saw that the President touched down in KC via the afternoon news, I threatened to get in the van and see if we could find the Presidential motorcade in route. Of course, the kids were horrified that I would even consider trying to track down Mr. President. It was neat just to know that someone so important was in the area! Some people can take that too far, but it's not every day that the President comes to town!
Know what's amazing??? We are children of a King and that He is as close as the mention of His name. He has more clout than anyone and He's there to talk to you 24/7. Think about that today! Who needs the President when we have Jesus?
Tomorrow, I plan on talking about the new movie out that once again is drawing negative light to Christians through extremist behavior. Stay tuned!
Blessings to you and have a fun-filled Friday!
The President Was Near!
