Expectant Prayers ®

Jennifer Jo Weiss

This and That on Tuesday

I hope you had a good President's Day and remembered to pray for our nation's leaders and officials.
Whether or not we agree with current policies, idealism, or personal beliefs, we are still required to pray for those in authority over us.  My prayer is that God's will may be accomplished in our nation and that the church will grow in faith and steadfastness in the coming year.
If you are like me, I am already sick of hearing about all the candidates for the 2008 elections!   Sometimes it would be nice to fast forward life and bypass a lot of the junk, wouldn't it?  Again, we can slough off all the negative and focus our attention on praying for God's outcome, whatever that may be.  Just because I am nauseated by the political scene,  I've got to remember that the best thing we can do is pray!

Our President's Day was pretty uneventful with the exception of the very good weather.  The day was so spring-like.  I packed the children a lunch in their respective lunch boxes and sent them outside for a pic nic.  It was so nice, they ended up staying outdoors for about 2 hours.   It's good to take advantage of days like that.  It breaks the cabin fever and refreshes their minds and bodies.  Moses said in the evening,  "Mom, being outside gave me so much energy!"

Well, Sunday's devotional proved to be interesting, as it contained the verse that I eluded to a week or so ago concerning meager beginnings.  It is found in Zechariah 4:10 "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin."
I have a feeling that many of you out there are being prompted by God to do something a little out of your comfort zone this year, but are struggling with the fact that 1.) you don't feel worthy or equipped to do what God is asking you to   2.) don't feel like your impact will be very great  3.)  can't imagine HOW you will accomplish what God has laid on your heart.
Let me encourage you today to be obedient to whatever God is leading you toward.  You don't have to worry about the outcome as long as you are walking one day at a time in the center of His will.   Ask yourself if you are where you are supposed to be TODAY.  He will see you though and bring good out of what He is doing in and through you.      Remember, too, what the verse says.  God is rejoicing to see the work begin!  Let that spark your spirit today.
I will be working on a few little projects in the next several months that I am excited about.  I am anxious to see the work begin as well.  So, I guess we can all be praying for each other.

Blessings and prayers today, friends!  I'll see you tomorrow.
