Expectant Prayers ®

Jennifer Jo Weiss

Update - 6:45 EST

Mom had a scary time this morning when her blood pressure dropped dangerously low again.  Sharon saw it at 48/30 when she looked.  They had her up to use the potty chair when she started to pass out.  They had to pick her up and put her back into bed.  The nurse began to ask her questions, but Mom didn't respond at first.  When she finally "came to", she complained that her chest was hurting pretty bad (described by Mom as a 7 on a scale of 10) and she had a cold sweat.     Of course, that concerns us because of the heart issues.

According to the nurse, the passing out was more than likely related to her blood pressure medicine.  Sharon thinks they need to adjust it or something.  She takes it and when it "hits her" it drops her blood pressure...kaboom!
Mom made mention to the nurse that it had happened before, so Sharon said that she had never told any of us that.  Mom said that's because she never told her!  Apparently she has "passed out" at home on a few occasions.  Once, she went over to the chair to catch herself (Dad was in bed) and when she came to, the chair was on top of her!   We just can't believe the things we are finding out that they never told us previously.  We talk to them several times a week!   Mom has told me that her medicine really "takes it out of her", but to me that meant it really made her "drag"; tired and lack of energy.   We are both beginning to get the picture that Mom and Dad need more than help in the short term!  That's something to pray about.

Here's more of what we're seeing today:

-Mom is not eating and isn't hungry.  She's had some Ensure today, but no real appetite.  They are still giving her fats and proteins in her IV.

-Most would agree that her color is coming back and she looks a lot better than she did earlier in the week.

-She was finally able to get her hair done and Sharon had to get off the phone with me because Mom was wanting her to come in and wash it with the dry soap today

-We've reached 4 days without hemorrhaging and now 24 hours where there hasn't been ANY blood
THIS IS A TRUE ANSWER TO PRAYER

-Her blood numbers are up today.  She reached a 9.7, which is the best they have seen it since they arrived a week ago  ANOTHER ANSWER TO PRAYER

-Dad went home early yesterday and got some much needed sleep.  Sharon even got to sleep in a bit, which was such a blessing  AN ANSWER TO PRAYER

- Tomorrow (MONDAY) will be a pivotal day for her care when all the doctors come in and see her.  We are sure the surgery issue is going to come up (one way or the other).  Mom has been wanting to have the surgery because she is so fearful that she will bleed again.  We feel it is too dangerous and she is too weak to have it done now... so that would mean even more time to "build up" to surgery - plus the danger.  We want the Lord's will in this area and wisdom for the doctors.

-She is still listed as Critical, but stable.   The nurses have really limited the visitors as they have said it is a crucial healing time for Mom.  She needs her rest.  So, if you want to go visit, please hold off at least for awhile until we get the go-ahead from the doctors/nurses.  The ICU is limited to the number of visitors (only 2 at a time) that can visit.  They continue to kick Dad and Sharon out, too.  They want everyone to know how much your support means to them and they don't want to hurt any one's feelings, but I'm sure you all understand.  Mom needs quiet, still, rest- as much as you can get in a bright, noise filled ICU with a door that "knocks"!  Believe me, I understand the desire to go and see her!

PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY!!!

- that the mental battle of fear, discouragement, depression, negativity, doubt, tiredness would be swallowed up in perfect peace, encouragement, joy, positive "faith" building evidences of God's hands at work, confidence that God is in control, and refreshing

- that Mom, Dad, and Sharon would get some solid, sound sleep.  I've been praying that God would miraculously multiply the hours they are asleep to feel much longer than what they've actually slept!

-that the doctors will have wisdom in how to proceed with Mom's care and convey their prognosis to Sharon and Dad

-strength for Mom - that God would lift up the hands that hang down, take off her spirit of heaviness, give her a garment of praise

We continue to thank God for all of you who are ministering to us as Aaron and Hur did for Moses - lifting up his hands when he became weary so that the battle could be won!  Your support through prayer, notes, offers for help, and other kind gestures has meant so much to us.

With blessings and love......

"Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

Matthew 25:38-40 (KJV)
