Values Voters Hit the Polls on Super Tuesday

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He chose for His inheritance."  Psalm 33:12 (NIV)

Speaking from a "values voter", I was anxious to get out and vote bright and early this morning here in the "Show Me State".   Up early at 5:30 am, I was hoping to be out among the first voters at 6am, but I had to wait until my husband got home so he could stay with the kids while I voted.  Turns out that HE got to cast his ballot before ME!
It's a dreary day with bad weather expected this afternoon, but I hope that doesn't stop anyone from letting their voice be heard.  Now I can't wait to hear as the results come pouring in.  Show me the numbers!

BTW- Could someone please pick impartial poll volunteers?  Even if you don't support my vote, at least respect it.  I couldn't believe how the poll volunteers acted this morning when I asked for my ballot.  You could literally see the disgust on their faces and the rolling of the eyes.  Come on, folks!  If you are going to work an election, please at least TRY to be neutral!!!!  Working a poll should be because you cherish the democratic process and not for any other- such as promoting your own political views!  We should all have the right to cast a ballot without pressure, coercion, discrimination, or nasty attitudes!

I love the phrase "values voters".  Aren't we ALL values voters?  Most people would argue (regardless of their candidate of choice or political affiliation) that they are voting their values.  So, why do we say it?  Primarily because of the conservative vote that liberals tend to cite as the deciding factor in the last Presidential election.
Call me what you will, I admit that I approach voting through my personal prism of life. I guess that would make me a conservative "values voter".  I tend to filter things through the Word of God and pray over which candidate to vote for.    Somehow every one of us counts the sands of democracy through our own character.    That is why I chose my candidate.  That is why you will choose yours.

Why do I think that considering God in voting is important???

"Godliness makes a nation great,  but sin is a disgrace to any people."   Proverbs 14:34 (New Living Translation)

"But you have increased the nation, O LORD, you have increased the nation; you are glorified; you have enlarged all the borders of the land."  Isaiah 26:15 (English Standard Version)

"For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined."  Isaiah 60:12 (NIV)

Even if my particular candidate or party does not make it to the White House, I plan on praying for the future president.  He/she will need it with so much to handle coming into office.  I kinda feel bad for them in a way.    I know I wouldn't want to have that job.

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness."  1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NIV)

I have to admit, however, that I think things are about to change dramatically in our country.   Somehow I  think we're all sensing it.  We must remember, however, that if we truly believe that God is in control of all things, then He will appoint the leader we are to have.

"...the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men and that He appoints and sets over it whomever He will."   Daniel 5:21b  (Message)

Blessings today, friends, and be sure to get out there and VOTE!
