Expectant Prayers ®

May God....

Since there hasn't been any word from the hospital yet, I decided to share some thoughts this morning.

It's MAY 1st today.   I just love the month of May.  Not only was I born in May, but it seems like everything comes "alive"... new life is just waiting to happen.  We sure need that "life" spoken today into our Spirits!

When I was thinking about it being MAY, something dawned on me.  Probably because I am a teacher and a stickler for proper use of Grammar (or at least trying to use proper grammar)!   A lot of times, students get confused with switching "can" and "may" as interchangeable.  Then a spiritual truth hit me that I just had to share.

Can is "the ability to do something".   We all know that God CAN.  He is able.  Lord of everything!  But when the Bible speaks of what God does, it does not use CAN.  Usually the active word is MAY!

May is "permission to do something".   Don't think of the word may in association with "maybe", that's not right (as in God may or may not).  When the word "MAY" is referenced in the Bible, usually it is presented in the precept-promise connection.  God sets for a principle for us to do, which gives God the permission to move in our lives.

You may be asking, "Why does God need our permission?"  Because He is a perfect gentlemen who created us with the ability to choose.  He will never go beyond our own will, but will only move in our lives as we allow Him to.

When we are walking daily with Him, following His commands and decrees, seeking His will for our lives, and praying and listening to His voice, we are constantly in a Spirit of "MAY".

  US   "MAY"  GOD

He will work in us... and that's a promise straight from the Word that we can stand upon.   Of course, He chooses what's best for us, when to move in certain situations, etc. but we can rest assured that HE WILL.  You can also think of "may" as "will" like a imperative!

Here is an example and I claim it for Mom's healing this morning:

John 15:7 tells us: "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you."

What "MAY the Lord do in us?  There were several references I found this morning in regard to "may".

-Dedicating ourselves to the Lord brings blessing

"For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day. Ex. 22:39)

-The Work of Our Hands Will Be Blessed

"...that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest." (Deuteronomy 14:29b)

-Our Households Will be Blessed

"Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever."  (2 Samuel 7:29)

-He Will Faithfully and Abundantly Provide for Us

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."    (Malachi 3:10)

No matter what you are going through today, think of God today as the God who will!  Claim it and believe it!

May God!!!!
