Expectant Prayers ®

Jennifer Jo Weiss

Pray, Clay, Pray!

Pray.

In the hours leading up to the election of our 44th President of the United States, I ask everyone within the sound of my voice to pray, watch, and open your ears to what the Spirit is saying.

Our prayers are not only for God's will to be in the elections (and trust that God is complete control of the outcome no matter who wins), but that we will focused on GOD and nothing else.  We must be centered on Him at this time.

WE ARE CLAY IN HIS HANDS

I told a friend earlier this week that we are indeed clay on the potter's wheel and we all need to remember in this hour that we are His workmanship; a work of His hands.  It's up to the potter to decide what He does with the clay.

Isaiah 29:16 says, "You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay!  Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, "He did not make me"? Can the pot say of the potter,  "He knows nothing"?

Again, I would remind us today that God does not work on our terms!  We are on HIS TERMS!  We don't decide what's best and expect God to answer our foolishness.

In order to shape the clay, a potter has to center us on his wheel (will) and we are "spun around" quickly.  That's our lives- constantly being spun around!  It isn't the spinning we should be concentrating on though, but rather two things 1.) what we are being drawn to 2.) who is guiding us.  We see this significance demonstrated in God's creation because God has allowed us to unlock this mystery.  The earth spins on it's axis, pulling all things toward the center and creating gravity.  Likewise, that spinning on the wheel of life should keep us grounded in God (if we are allowing His hands to guide us).  Think of all the other examples of this process in nature.  From the earth and other plants having their orbits and revolving around the sun... clear down to the tiniest makeup of our cells.... there seems to be a center- something in the middle that draws!!!  And who made the planets, ordering them where to go?  Only God.

This speaks to the fact that God is in control of the direction we are to go and that it is not up to us to stop the wheel.  If your focus is in the wrong place, you're going to get dizzy and unbalanced. We need to trust that God is shaping things just as He sees fit and rest in the fact that His hand is guiding us. We need to be more like the work of His hands and less like the work of our own.

Now consider that this picture today is not just for the individual, but for the nation as well.

We've got to quit telling the potter how to shape us, acting in our ignorance like He doesn't know what He is doing.  Shame on us.  Let's take our hands off, allow the hands of the potter to be in complete control and build us/shape us into what He sees fit - whether we like it or not!

PLEASE READ REVELATION 13 TODAY!
My oldest son was reading in Revelation last night (ah, a boy after his mama's own heart) and brought a Bible to me so that I would read the passage.   I was glad for the reminder!   I'm also encouraged to know that God is stirring the hearts of children in this hour!

One verse stuck out to me that I will leave you with today.  It is very timely.  This comes from Revelation 13:10 and I wanted you to read it in a few versions:

This means that God’s holy people must endure persecution patiently and remain faithful.  NIV

Meanwhile, God's holy people passionately and faithfully stand their ground.  The Message

Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.  NASB

Herein is [the call for] the patience and the faith and fidelity of the saints (God's people). Amplified

This means that God's people must learn to endure and be faithful!   Contemporary

May God be merciful and compassionate to us today!  PRAY!
