Expectant Prayers ®

UPDATE for Thursday & Wound Photos

I apologize for getting this posted so late today.  I've had a long day... up almost 11 hours now and I'm starting to feel the effects.    As promised, however, I wanted to post the pictures that were taken of his wound, etc.  Pete really wanted you all to see them ASAP to get a good idea of why you are praying.

We are still praising God today for keeping Pete safe and making the injury bearable for him.  No matter what we go through, we must always remember that God is always there... right beside us..even to the very end.

As I was tending to Pete this morning I was reminded of a verse (you need to know that we keep scripture up all over the house most of the time and this particular verse is the one that I put on our bathroom mirror several weeks ago).  The verse is Jeremiah 30:17,

"For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds!"

Pete is doing OK today.  The pain seems to be increasing a little, but that's because he was actually up for more than 5-10 minutes today.  Overall, he's been out of bed for what I would say is a combined TOTAL of an hour, considering all the times he's gotten up.  He's on a steady dose of Ibuprofen and Tylenol due to the pain.  The wound is still bleeding and I'm having to change the dressing several times a day.  I had been putting some extra large bandages on  the wound, but found that they were painful to take off.  This morning, I shaved his belly around the site to help ease the pain of removing the bandages, but then they were stuck to his smooth skin and became even more impossible to remove.  I guess it's the location or something!  I went back to the gauze and medical tape.

Even though he is getting out of bed a little, it's slow going for him to move around.  I've noticed him holding the wound area as he is up.  Most of the day has been spent in bed... and it's so needed right now.  He was able to make a few more phone calls today, too.

Celeste's birthday party is tonight and he'll probably be up again for that to give her the "Birthday Blessing", although this year, she probably won't be sitting on his lap!

Now for the photos.  I am placing them at the end on purpose.  If you do not wish to see them... do not go any further!

Pictured here is as dagger similar to Pete's.  Our friend Dion let me borrow this for the photo.  Pete's is still in the possession of investigations.

This was taken in the ER right before doctor removed it. A nurse snapped this with her cell phone camera.   It was already out a little ways, but they are sure it was embedded clear to the handle.   That's a little over 4" of knife.  Imagine that in your stomach!

This photo should actually be rotated with the ruler at the bottom of the photo.  The wound goes up, as if it was a vertical cut.  The knife was found in him sideways, which means while inside, it also twisted.

Again, we thank all of you for praying and ask that you continue to do so!  We are eternally grateful!
