Well, as you may have guessed, I am still in Ohio. Pete returned home with our kids shortly after the funeral, but I was needed here to help dad with his business along with my older sister, Sharon. So, I stayed on thinking that I would only be here another week or so. But wait... there's more! The week after the funeral, Dad had an aneurysm in his left leg that required us to take him to the ER. He thought it was just a bad leg cramp. Boy, was he wrong. He was then transported to the same hospital where Mom passed away - needless to say that when the ambulance pulled out of the hospital parking lot - it was almost more than Sharon and I could bear. He went through a dye test that they said showed sufficient blood flow to his foot - so we were literally told - take some aspirin and stay off your feet. Can't you just hear it, "Take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning!" So late that night, dad was released from that hospital and was sent home, only to be told later from his primary care physician that he would have to see a specialist the following Monday. When the appointment arrived Monday, he was admitted to the hospital again - only a different hospital!
To make a long story short - a and a few painful procedures that dad had to undergo for testing - dad is having surgery... not just on one leg, but on both. They sent him home from the hospital to rest and prepare for surgery. He will have the left leg fixed on Monday and then the right leg fixed on Tuesday. After that (and a few months down the road) he will have to have one more surgery to correct some other aneurysms they found in the pelvic area. BUT, that is down the road and we'll have to jump these hurdles one at a time, thank you!
Sharon and I are very thankful that we were here already when all the symptoms started hitting. It's been a long month, but God has been very gracious and merciful along the road. I am so grateful that He knows all and sees all - and knows what we have need of even before we do!
So, I just wanted to update all of you and thank you all so much for the thoughts, cards, prayers, etc. that have arrived and are still arriving.
So for now, I am sending you all my love from Ohio - and hopefully will be back in Missouri in a week or so.
Blessings on this GOOD FRIDAY and in case I don't get a chance to log on again soon.... HAPPY EASTER. He is risen!
With Love From Ohio
